Rockland Breakwater Light located in Rockland, Maine sits at the tip of a 0.8 mile stone jetty. The lighthouse surrounds itself in a picturesque melange of sea, hillsides, ships and fresh air. As the tide recedes, it leaves a notable water line and seaweed on the granite blocks. One late September (2006) morning, I chartered a boat and took along my sketchbook and camera. The captain and I traveled in a crescent pattern over the calm, moving seas while I searched for the right composition. As we gradually moved further away from the lighthouse, the nearby Camden Hills magnified its presence. "That's it!" I exclaimed. A balance of sea, lighthouse, hillside, and sky provided the depth and drama I was seeking. The sun was shinning brightly that morning on the face of the lighthouse and flag, delivering a striking and memorable scene.
The colors are bold and striking with a solid ink coverage reminiscent of silk- screen printing

My wife and I visited Maine a few years ago for our wedding anniversary. We are from Atlanta, GA and I must say that Maine has now become a favorite destiation of ours. We bought this poster to go along with the Portland Head poster we bought during our trip. It was the perfect piece that truly captures the beauty of Rockland Breakwater Light. Now everytime we look at our wall, we will go back to walking down that almost 1 mile long levee (for lack of a better term) and the beauty that it opens up to.

During each vacation, my wife and I choose something by which to remember the trip. Happy to add this iconic print to our home in celebration of our Maine adventure. It is rich in colour and style!
