Curtis Island Light, in Camden, Maine shines like a jewel sitting on a small island overlooking Penobscot Bay. One dark morning, we rumbled in a little rubber boat through the quiet harbor filled with yachts. The full moon accompanied Captain Dan and I as we waited for the sun to rise on our way to the lighthouse. As we withdrew further past Curtis Island Light, the Camden Hills rose before our eyes. I took photographs when the morning light brought vibrant colors and a cast of shadows to the scene. The many layers of color and elements provide a good sense of distance and perspective. Curtis Island light is one of my most colorful compositions. It has what I call "tranquil energy", because it is a quiet scene yet it radiates with life.

The colors are bold and striking with a solid ink coverage reminiscent of silk- screen printing
