Boston Light Art Print 36" x 53" Travel Poster By Alan Claude - Massachusetts
$695.00
Boston Light in Massachusetts is America's first lighthouse, built in 1716. As the British were withdrawing from Boston in 1776, they decided to blow up the lighthouse. After the Revolutionary War, in 1783 the lighthouse was rebuilt where it stands today. To me, Boston Light is a symbol of America's rich past, present, and future. In the background, the city skyline proclaims its modern present and the soaring airplane signifies its bright future. Just before sunrise my friends Marci, Larry, and I went out on a small trawler about a mile East past of the lighthouse in late August 2011. The sea was calm and peaceful. The city skyline was wider than I anticipated so I later brought the buildings much closer together for my composition. I also gave the lighthouse a new roof and a much-needed fresh coat of paint - all historically accurate colors of course! A couple of small waves crashing against the rocks added a hint of drama and serves a starting point for the eye.
The colors are bold and striking with a solid ink coverage reminiscent of silk- screen printing
