Pemaquid Point Light located in Bristol, Maine is one of my favorite lights partly because it has remained unchanged for so many years. I frequently go to this place for solitude and to collect my thoughts. One can come and watch waves pound the granite shore, see a Fresnel lens up close and think about what daily life was like back then. After many visits and sketches throughout the year I finally found the right composition on a breezy and icy ten-degree January morning. It was so cold that the windows of the cast iron lantern room had crystallized, forming a light haze. Despite the cold I took several photos that helped with my design. As I drew the illustration, I bypassed details such as wires/cables and smaller stones but enhanced the rubble stone texture of the tower with bright light and deeper shadows. By infusing a soothing olive green verdure, coffee-colored rocks, and a blue serene sky, I "warmed up" the scene to be like a perfect summer morning.

The versatile 8" x 10" size looks sharp as an accent piece or in a grouping

The colors are bold and striking with a solid ink coverage reminiscent of silk-screen printing

Beautiful print

I just had to get this beautiful print after visiting Pemaquid this summer. The colors are stunning and it looks great in a rustic picture frame. This is my second Alan Claude print and I can't wait to get more!

Pemaquid Point

Pemaquid Point lighthouse was my husband's favorite spot when he lived in ME and he brought me there many years ago. I was thrilled to find this print and the detail on it is perfect. It is a beautiful piece of artwork and now hangs on our travel wall.

Pemaquid light

Love my Pemaquid light house print. I started collecting the prints of the light houses I’ve been to this summer. I have Portland head also but I haven’t framed it yet. And I need Spring point. I hope to make it to Quaddy light this year.
