Boston Light in Massachusetts is America's first lighthouse, built in 1716. As the British were withdrawing from Boston in 1776, they decided to blow up the lighthouse. After the Revolutionary War, in 1783 the lighthouse was rebuilt where it stands today. To me, Boston Light is a symbol of America's rich past, present, and future. In the background, the city skyline proclaims its modern present and the soaring airplane signifies its bright future. Just before sunrise my friends Marci, Larry, and I went out on a small trawler about a mile East past of the lighthouse in late August of 2011. The sea was calm and peaceful. The city skyline was wider than I anticipated so I later brought the buildings much closer together for my composition. I also gave the lighthouse a new roof and a much-needed fresh coat of paint - all historically accurate colors of course! A couple of small waves crashing against the rocks added a hint of drama and serves a starting point for the eye.

The versatile 8" x 10" size looks sharp as an accent piece or in a grouping

The colors are bold and striking with a solid ink coverage reminiscent of silk- screen printing

We have 4 of the lighthouse prints by Alan Claude. They have made an interesting and attractive wall grouping at our lakehouse. More importantly, they are great reminders of a wonderful vacation spent visiting New England lighthouses.

Lovely lighthouses

Whilst holidaying on Cape Cod several years ago we bought 3 lighthouse prints which look amazing in our home and serve to remind us of a beautiful place. They are admired by our visitors and one of our friends loved them so much we ordered the Boston Light for her birthday and one for ourselves too. Again, a stylish recreation of the actual landmark that reminds us of our times in the States. Well worth the additional $20 international postage to the UK. Love the insert card that tells the story of the composition of the artwork and also the complimentary bookmark! We shall no doubt buy more when we are back in New England!!
