Cape Neddick Nubble Light, in York, Maine is planted on a small rocky island that is 'so close yet so far' from the shore divided by a 100 foot channel. The vivid contrasting autumn light and shadows delivered the depth and dimension for the rock foundation I was seeking, but I added a soft delicate blueish shadow on the tower and the keeper's house. Three seagulls sat immovable atop the red brick oil house so I felt obliged to use them in my composition. My wife Erin chuckled as I recounted the true story of the keeper's cat "Mr T". In the 1930's, the cat would regularly swim and ride a wave to shore to hunt for mice in the nearby rocks. To create a further sense of distance, I used a quaint green-tinted sky along with high- altitude streaking clouds to complete the background.

The versatile 8" x 10" size looks sharp as an accent piece or in a grouping

The colors are bold and striking with a solid ink coverage reminiscent of silk- screen printing

Nubble Light

A good friend gave me your Portsmouth Harbor Print for my birthday, which I loved, and was delighted to find your Nubble Light to gift my cousin with this Christmas. Not only did she waitress right near there in her youth, this Fall she came up from Maryland & rented a place in York for a month. I have enjoyed looking at all your work on your website & on Etsy. All I can say is: you’ve done the New London Birdhouse & Block Island Light…PLEASE do my personal fav, Montauk!

Love my print

I bought this as a gift and I love it. A friend of mine has the large Nubble framed in her kitchen. I will be buying my own copy for my nautical bathroom.

love my prints!

I'm thrilled with my purchase! I saw the Pemaquid Point print when I visited that lighthouse and did not buy at that time. Then regretted it for the rest of my trip. But then found the website and bought it along with Cape Neddick and Portland Head! Love your work Alan Claude!
