Curtis Island Light, in Camden, Maine shines like a jewel sitting on a small island overlooking Penobscot Bay. One dark morning, we rumbled in a little rubber boat through the quiet harbor filled with yachts. The full moon accompanied Captain Dan and I as we waited for the sun to rise on our way to the lighthouse. As we withdrew further past Curtis Island Light, the Camden Hills rose before our eyes. I took photographs when the morning light brought vibrant colors and a cast of shadows to the scene. The many layers of color and elements provide a good sense of distance and perspective. Curtis Island light is one of my most colorful compositions. It has what I call "tranquil energy", because it is a quiet scene yet it radiates with life.

A great addition to my collection of Maine pictures!

My family has been traveling to Maine every Summer for the past 26 years. The collection by Alan Claude goes well with the photographs I have captured through the years of the rugged Maine Seacoast. Love his work!
