Nauset Light, on the Cape Cod National Seashore, in Massachusetts is one of the most photographed lighthouses in Cape Cod. You can find it on the state’s license plate and even on a bag of potato chips. I first came here on a chilly morning just before sunrise. In my search for a promising angle and good lighting, I started to go down the stairs towards the beach. On my path was a middle-aged couple cuddled together under a blanket looking out towards the ocean. I smiled inwardly and discreetly backed away to let them have their moment uninterrupted. Returning later that day at sunset, I was pleased to discover a colorful glow on the lighthouse and leaning shadows that brought out its distinctive features.
