Where Home Begins: Styling Your Entryway with Alan Claude

Love My Space is where you showcase how you've styled your home with Alan Claude's art. Check out some examples we think you'll love and use these helpful tips when creating your own space. Here we'll focus on your entry way.

Why the Entryway Matters

Often overlooked, the entryway plays a powerful role in how a home feels. Because it’s typically a smaller, transitional space, every design choice matters. Artwork becomes especially important here—it can define your style, establish mood, and create a sense of arrival. Alan Claude’s work, known for its balance, calm compositions, and timeless appeal, is perfectly suited for making a subtle yet memorable statement.

Choosing the Right Artwork

When selecting an Alan Claude piece for your entryway, consider the scale and energy of the space. A single statement artwork works beautifully in narrow or minimalist entryways, creating a focal point without overwhelming the area. For larger foyers, a slightly bolder piece or a curated grouping can add visual interest while still feeling cohesive.

Alan Claude’s landscapes and serene compositions are particularly effective in entryways. Their sense of openness and flow invites you in, setting a relaxed and welcoming tone as soon as you step inside.

Placement and Proportion

Placement is key to making artwork feel intentional. Hang pieces at eye level so they’re immediately noticeable and comfortable to view. Artwork centered above a console table or bench creates a natural visual anchor, helping the space feel grounded and well-composed.

Avoid overcrowding the walls—entryways benefit from breathing room. Let the artwork stand on its own, allowing its colors, textures, and mood to shine.

Pairing Art with Furniture and Décor

The beauty of Alan Claude’s artwork lies in its versatility. Pair it with simple, understated furniture to keep the focus on the art. Slim console tables, natural wood finishes, or stone accents complement the refined aesthetic without competing for attention. His bold, bright colors often also pair well with unique furniture.

Finish the look with a few carefully chosen accessories: a ceramic vase, a small sculptural object, or a touch of greenery. These elements add warmth and personality while keeping the overall look clean and curated.

Using Lighting to Elevate the Space

Lighting can dramatically enhance artwork in an entryway. Soft overhead lighting, wall sconces, or a picture light can bring out subtle details and textures in Alan Claude’s work. The goal is to create a gentle glow that feels inviting rather than harsh, guiding you into the home with ease.

Creating a Lasting First Impression

Styling your entryway with Alan Claude’s artwork is about more than decoration—it’s about creating a feeling. A thoughtfully designed entryway signals care, balance, and timeless taste. It tells a story before a word is spoken and makes every arrival feel intentional.

Where home begins, style matters. With Alan Claude’s artwork as the focal point, your entryway becomes a quiet yet powerful introduction to the spaces—and the life—that unfold beyond it.

Darcy in Hallowell uses Alan Claudes calendar to decorate her entryway. We love this because of the pop of color the calendar brings, the functionality and how fresh it looks and feels! Plus, who doesn't love being greeted by flowers?!

Lobsterboat at Five Islands, Lobstering at the Nubble travel poster and Motif #1 are all predominately featured in this modern home in Freeport, Maine. The black hardware compliments the black frames beautifully, showcasing the prints perfectly! Alan Claude's framed artwork comes with an ArtShield (instead of glass) which means in open spaces like this, with lots of natural light, you don't have the glare of the glass on the print. Instead of messing with a ladder on the stairs to clean, simply use a Swiffer duster and voila, the prints look brand new!

Cindy and David use Alan's Camden Lighthouse image to add color and and a focal point at the base of their stairs. The red end table and green from the plant bring it all together. Choose art that speaks to you; whether it's from your backyard, a far-off adventure, or simply makes you grin - there's no bad choice when it comes to art selection.

The vibrant throw pillows on the bench, combined with the green large vase, compliment this Maine Farm image wonderfully. The red and yellow in the print bring a touch of brightness and coordinate beautifully with the pillows. *This print happens to be a rendering of this collector's house which makes it a nice personalized touch for their entry.

A collector in Harpswell wanted to add color to her white and grey entry. She selected Sebago Kayakers, Chairs Overlooking Ram Island travel, and Oh Buoy! They all compliment each other with bright blues, greens, and hints of pink and red! This is a really fun way to add color and personality to her entryway.

This collector incorporated a Grand View West Quoddy Light image to introduce red, white, and green (along with a personal touch of a beloved location!) into their neutrally styled entry space - featuring an abundance of white, cream, gold, and browns. It truly wows you as you enter the space!

Warm & Inviting - from the exposed beams to the natural light, white walls, brown and tan furniture - we adore every detail of this entrance. The Grand View image of Indian Island Light in Rockport, ME brings it all together. It's both striking and dramatic.
